LSOA = Lower Super Output Area = geographical area used for statistical analysis. Every single geographical unit highlighted on the map is a LSOA.
The park activity scores are determined by the park's quantity of complementary elements and spaces, as well as the area of the park and the spaces it contains. For example, a park with more sports grounds will score higher in the physical category. The park health scores are then determined by the extent to which the park's elements and spaces help prevent against each health burden based on existing evidence. The LSOA activity and health scores are calculated by taking the sum of the weighted areas of park infleunce zone intersections multiplied by the park scores in each category. The LSOA health scores show how well the quality of the parks that influence the LSOA region help prevent against each health burden in that area.
The colours of the LSOA regions are based on their score in the selected health burden. The negative ranges indicate the lower scores and positive values indicate the higher scores. Scores around 0 are average. The score colour scale is shown in the legend located in the top right corner of the map. Clicking on a LSOA will highlight the parks that influence it. A park influences a LSOA if the LSOA intersects with the infleunce zone of the park. Selecting a LSOA will also display it's key information, scores, and the prescription counts in the region under the map. The prescription counts are shown as a sum from the 2019 and 2020 MedSat point data files.
All highlighted parks are shown in green with a number pointing to it. The influence zones show the park's most probable area of population usability. The park influence zone colours are determined by their contained average prescription counts for the selected health burden. Red zones communicate those that have the higher-end of the prescription count, white is average, and blue is the lower-end. Once a LSOA region is selected, the "Show Park Info" button can be selected to get the list of parks that influence the LSOA, along with the park information (displayed under the LSOA information section). This shows the park scores and the average prescription counts within the park's influence zone. The parks can be linked using the number system and selecting a park will emphasize it's influence zone, as well as highlight the corresponding park block in the park info section under the map.
LSOA colours are based on their prevention score against the selected health burden and the park influence zone colours are based on the average prescription count they contain within
